When Lyn and Ray purchased their perfect home there was just one thing still out of place, they didn’t have their ideal tropical country garden.
They called William and the Plant-EM team for a garden restoration and they say the result exceeded their expectations.
Q&A – Our tropical country garden
Q: What services did you want/need done in your garden?
Ray: When we bought the home there was a terrible footpath with weeds growing on it.
There was an old tree that needed to be cut out and it was just awful. And it’s been transformed into a showpiece.
Q: What did you want it to look like after the work was complete?
Lyn: I asked William to create a tropical country garden with beautiful colours and that’s what we got.
Q: What was it like working with the Plant-EM team?
Ray: William certainly had some good suggestions, but he was also prepared to listen to what particularly, Lyn wanted, because she was very definite about was she wanted and it is her garden.
We sat around a table with William and I was so impressed, he used technology, he would show us the plants and the layout and even a diagram and I was quite blown away by how much detail he went to and lengths he went to please us.
Q: How pleased are you with the end result?
Ray: It’s actually better than what we expected. The colours, the layout, even the garden edging. Everything that William and his team have done has been perfect for us.
And in this tropical sun, William helped us select the right plants that were able to cope with the extreme heat. And the choices were great.
Q: Would you recommend Plant-EM to others?
Ray: Yes, certainly.
We’ve engaged a lot of trades on the house and because of a lot of the work that’s being done around Townsville, it was hard to get tradesmen when we really needed them. And we understand that, but with William every time he said he’d be here, we made and appointment, he was on time.
And, he was so patient with us because we can be a bit fussy and difficult and we couldn’t fluster him at all. He just said, whatever you want – my aim is to please.
Williams words – tropical country garden
Q: How did this project adapt from start to finish?
William: Before we could actually build this beautiful garden we had to actually do a lot of demolition work. Once we actually dismantled the garden bed it gave us a whole new perspective on what we were going to do.
Originally we were going to rebuild the raised garden bed but since we pulled it all down, all of a sudden we could see a whole new scope. So then we invited Ray and Lyn to have a look at it and come up with a different option which was to do the garden bed that we’ve done now which is just one big garden bed with some lawn that is irrigated and drip irrigation (to the garden).
So the initial (planned) outcome was different to what is now done but it is much, much nicer.
Q: How does it feel to deliver a result that exceeds your clients’ expectations?
It makes me feel very proud of my team and myself for what we’ve been able to achieve for them.
That’s the whole purpose of what we’re trying to do – to come and deliver the garden to the best of our ability and present something that hopefully is better than what they expect.
